It started, as the best things often do, with no big plan.
Just a man, his sneakers, and a quiet decision in July 2023 to step outside — not to chase a medal or clock a time, but simply for fun. What Raj Gandhi didn’t know then was that these early, unassuming miles would soon turn into something deeper. A rhythm. A ritual. A lifestyle.
At the age of 62, this ex-serviceman began his journey. And today, at 64, his consistency, mindset, and discipline have turned that quiet beginning into something extraordinary.
"Just run and enjoy for health and fitness."
That’s Raj’s mantra. Simple, yet solid — like his daily routine that now stretches across six days a week. Mornings begin with 6 km of walking and running. Evenings? He’s clocking 20 km of cycling four times a week. Sundays are sacred — a well-earned day of rest.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. “My calf, foot, and ankle used to pain,” he recalls. Those initial aches could’ve halted his journey — until he discovered a small but powerful tool: Sorgen compression socks.
“Sorgen socks eliminated all the pain,” he says.
No dramatic interventions. No long breaks. Just the right support at the right time.
A Passion Backed by Real Numbers
In just two years, Raj has built an impressive list of milestones that reflect more than just stats — they show pure dedication:
✅ 29 times 10K runs
✅ 18 times 5K runs
✅ 74 virtual events — cycling, running & walking for different causes
✅ 19 podium finishes
✅ 4-time event ambassador
✅ 5 walking events
✅ 1 cycling event (25 km)
Each event, each medal, each early morning — proof that age is no barrier when passion leads the way.
“Consistency gets you a disciplined person, and discipline gets you to mindset.”
Raj believes in this chain reaction. For him, running isn’t about chasing motivation — it’s about building a rhythm so deep that even on the tough days, the legs move anyway. The body remembers. The mindset follows.
Though he isn’t chasing big races or major marathons, his presence at events like the TMM Expo 2024 proves he’s become a steady, positive force in the community.
Four Words That Keep Him Going
When asked what fuels his fire, Raj sums it up in four simple, powerful words:
Discipline. Determination. Mindset. Passion.
Together, these pillars carry him through every mile, every sore muscle, and every downpour or heatwave. They help him stay focused on his goal: “Just run and enjoy for health and fitness.”
No pressure. No comparisons. Just personal progress, every single day.
Advice from a Runner Who’s Living It
For anyone starting out — especially those thinking they’ve missed their “prime” — Raj’s story is a living example that it’s never too late.
“Start small. No pressure to be fast or perfect. Just show up.”
Because when you begin with joy, and stay consistent, mindset and success follow naturally.
The Dream Is in the Doing
When asked about his biggest dream, Raj keeps it real. He isn’t chasing ultramarathons or exotic bucket-list finish lines. For him, the dream is already happening — in every early run, every quiet pedal stroke, every day he chooses to show up.
Running isn’t just something he does. It’s a part of who he is now.
And if his life were a movie?
He smiles: "Zindagi Jee lo abhi."
(Live your life — now.)
A reminder that the best moments aren’t down the road — they’re right here, in the steps we take today.
