Khushboo Ghosal – From Homemaker to Ultra Runner

Khushboo Ghosal – From Homemaker to Ultra Runner

The morning was still, the sun barely breaking through the trees, and Khushboo Ghosal stood at the edge of her society’s track. Two rounds — 1.5 kilometers — that’s all she aimed for. A small target, maybe, but for Khushboo, it was a bold promise to herself. That promise turned into a purpose. That purpose turned into a passion. And today, it's her oxygen.

From Two Laps to Fifty Kilometers

Khushboo’s running journey started in 2019 with no lofty goals, no fancy gear — just the desire to take two rounds of the society track each day. “My daily goal back then was two rounds,” she recalls, “and within three months, I trained for my first half marathon.”

What began as a personal challenge soon unfolded into something far more powerful — her transformation. From a typical homemaker to a runner with the titles of HM, FM, Ultra Runner, and even a pacer, Khushboo’s story is not just about physical endurance but emotional evolution.

That same year, she ran the HTHM to qualify for her dream race — the TMM. One race led to another, and she completed half marathons in 2020, 2021, and 2023. But 2024 became a turning point — her first full marathon. And in 2025, Khushboo conquered her first Ultra: a 50K run at TUM. “From 2km to 50km,” she says, “Wow... I still reconcile those days.”

“Running Is My Therapy”

To Khushboo, running is more than a hobby. It’s her therapy, her escape, and her way of reclaiming herself. “Running has given me a reason to live for myself,” she shares with genuine vulnerability. It’s a familiar truth for many runners — the road becomes a place where silence heals, and every step brings clarity.

Her relationship with running is deeply emotional. It’s a commitment she returns to, even on the days her body begs for rest. “No Excuse… Just Run,” she says. It’s not just a mantra — it’s how she lives.

A Week in Her Shoes

Khushboo’s training isn't accidental. It’s consistent and structured. Her weekly routine includes intervals, tempo runs, and long HR (heart rate) runs. It’s a rhythm built over years, blending discipline with intuition.

But her secret weapon? Strength training. After a painful brush with plantar fasciitis during her first full marathon in 2024, she learned the hard way that running without strengthening is a risky gamble. “Injuries are painful when they refrain you from running,” she says. “Please start with strengthening — it’s never too late.”

Battling Pain, Finding Power

2024’s plantar fasciitis was more than a physical setback. It tested her resilience. But true to her spirit, Khushboo didn’t stop. With dedicated strengthening, her condition improved over 2025. She didn’t just recover — she soared higher, pushing herself to finish a 50K Ultra. Her story is proof that setbacks are setups for comebacks.

“Every Mile Is a Victory”

What keeps her going? It’s the dream. The unshakable belief that she hasn’t reached her limit yet. “I wish to go beyond what I have attempted,” she says, eyes on the horizon. Her words carry weight — “Believe in yourself… Enjoy the journey… Find your pace and own your run.”

For beginners, she has a simple yet powerful message: “If I can do it, you can too.” There’s no gatekeeping in her tone. Just open arms and honest encouragement.

How Sorgen Became Part of Her Journey

In 2023, during the Satara Expo, Khushboo discovered Sorgen’s compression socks — the neon half compression ones. “Not only are they pretty and eye-catching, but they’re also really comfortable and totally worth it,” she beams. Unlike a sales pitch, her words come from lived experience. It’s not about gear for the sake of gear — it’s about what supports the journey.

If Her Life Were a Movie…

The title? “Believe in Yourself.” Because that’s the heartbeat of her story. From modest beginnings on a society track to becoming an ultra runner, Khushboo Ghosal has proven that belief, grit, and heart are what it really takes to run long and live large.
